Answers to the questions caregivers actually ask — before and after signing up.
One reliable approach: a daily check-in text. Kinloop sends your loved one a short SMS at the time you set — they reply YES, NO, or HELP. You see the result on your dashboard in real time, and you're notified immediately if they don't respond. Nothing needs to be installed on their phone.
Yes. Kinloop shows you your loved one's response to their daily check-in text the moment it comes in. If they replied YES at 9:04am, you'll see that on your dashboard. If they haven't replied by mid-morning, you get a text. No phone call needed.
No. Kinloop works via standard SMS on any cell phone — flip phones included. Your loved one only needs the ability to receive and send text messages. There's no app to install, no Wi-Fi required, and no screen they need to navigate.
Nothing. You set up the check-in schedule from your caregiver account. Your loved one simply receives a text at the time you've set and replies with one word. That's the only thing they need to do.
Every day at a time you choose, your loved one receives a simple text message asking if they took their medication. They reply YES, NO, or HELP — no app, no smartphone, no setup needed on their end. Their response updates your caregiver dashboard in real time.
Up to 4 check-ins per day, each tied to a specific dose label (e.g., Morning, Noon, Evening, Bedtime). Each check-in is a separate SMS message.
On Basic plans and above, Kinloop automatically generates a weekly PDF health report showing your loved one's medication adherence rate, response rate, check-in history, flag counts, and an AI-assisted summary. On Premium and Concierge plans, a care coordinator reviews and approves the report before it reaches you. Lite plans do not include weekly reports.
Yes. Every published report has a "Share" button that generates a secure, time-limited link (30 days). Anyone with the link can view the report without creating an account. Every access is audit-logged for HIPAA compliance.
Yes, on Premium and Concierge plans. You have a shared observation log with your assigned care coordinator — you can leave notes about anything you've observed (a change in mood, a missed-dose pattern, a new symptom) and your coordinator can respond directly. Your coordinator can also proactively leave notes for you. All notes are private to your account and not visible to your loved one.
Kinloop is not an emergency service — in any life-threatening situation, call 911 first. When a HELP response is received: (1) you receive an immediate SMS alert, (2) all emergency contacts you've added are notified, and (3) on Premium/Concierge plans, your assigned care coordinator is alerted and will follow up with you directly.
A missed check-in is flagged yellow or red depending on your plan settings. You receive a dashboard notification, and if the escalation threshold is met, all your emergency contacts are alerted. No response is never silently ignored.
Each missed check-in is tracked individually. If your loved one consistently doesn't respond, Kinloop continues flagging and notifying. You'll have a clear log in your dashboard and in their weekly report — useful context if you need to speak with their doctor.
Kinloop sends you an immediate SMS alert any time HELP is received — it doesn't attempt to determine whether it's urgent. You decide what action to take. Some families find it helpful to call their loved one first before assuming the worst.
No. Kinloop is not an emergency service and cannot contact 911. It notifies you and your emergency contacts so you can take action. In any situation that may be life-threatening, always call 911 directly.
Yes — you can add up to 10 emergency contacts per care recipient, each with a name, phone number, and relationship. All contacts receive immediate SMS alerts when a HELP response or escalation threshold is triggered.
Kinloop is built with HIPAA-grade security practices including encryption at rest, encryption in transit, role-based access control, audit logging, and multi-factor authentication for staff. We seek to establish Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with vendors who process health-related data, and we apply the same privacy and security safeguards to all users as a matter of policy.
It means we've built our infrastructure with HIPAA's technical and administrative requirements in mind — encrypted storage, access controls, audit logging, and data protection agreements with our vendors. It doesn't mean Kinloop is a covered healthcare entity — it means we handle health information with the same safeguards commonly used in healthcare systems.
No. The only texts your loved one will ever receive from Kinloop are their scheduled check-in messages. We do not send promotional messages, marketing texts, or anything else to care recipients.
No. Only you and any coordinator you work with (on Premium or Concierge) can see your family member's data. We don't sell health data and don't use it for advertising. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
Only you (the caregiver) and, on Premium/Concierge plans, your assigned care coordinator. Our AI system processes de-identified prompts only — no PHI is sent to the AI. Admins can access data only for technical support and only with audit logging.
You can export all your data at any time from the Billing & Account section of your dashboard. To request account deletion, use the Delete Account section on the same page — your request is reviewed and processed within 30 days of approval, in accordance with HIPAA data retention requirements.
Yes. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial. A credit card is required to start, but you won't be charged until the trial ends. Cancel any time before day 15 at no cost.
Lite (USD 15/mo): daily SMS check-ins, YES/NO/HELP tracking, caregiver dashboard, and basic in-dashboard notifications. Basic (USD 29/mo): everything in Lite plus automated escalation alerts, emergency contact notifications, weekly PDF reports, and Care Circle for 1 family member. Premium (USD 79/mo): everything in Basic plus coordinator-reviewed reports, shared notes, adherence trend charts, and Care Circle for 3. Concierge (USD 129/mo): everything in Premium plus a dedicated coordinator, monthly family call, 15-minute escalation response, and Care Circle for 5.
Lite gives you awareness — daily SMS check-ins and a dashboard so you know what happened. Basic adds the safety net — automated SMS escalation alerts to you and your emergency contacts when something goes wrong, plus weekly PDF reports and Care Circle access for a family member. If you want to be notified automatically when a check-in is missed or your loved one texts HELP, you need Basic or above.
Care Circle lets you invite family members to view your loved one's dashboard with read-only access — so everyone stays informed without needing their own subscription. Lite plans don't include Care Circle. Basic includes 1 member, Premium includes 3, and Concierge includes 5 per care recipient.
Yes. Your first care recipient is included in your base plan. Each additional recipient adds USD 10/mo (Lite), USD 19/mo (Basic), USD 39/mo (Premium), or USD 59/mo (Concierge). All recipients share one caregiver dashboard.
Yes. Cancel anytime from your billing settings with no cancellation fee. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
No. Kinloop sends check-in messages via Twilio, a professional SMS carrier, but SMS delivery cannot be guaranteed. Messages may not arrive due to carrier spam filtering, the phone being off or out of service, a full message inbox, or network issues. A check-in showing "Sent" in your dashboard means Kinloop handed the message to our carrier — not that your loved one received it. If you're concerned about a non-response, check the Check-In History in your dashboard and follow up with your loved one directly. For full details, see our Patient Communication Policy at kinloop.co/policy/communications.
Messages are sent from a dedicated Kinloop phone number via Twilio. We strongly recommend having your loved one save the number in their contacts as "Kinloop Check-in" so they recognize it immediately and don't ignore it as spam.
Pausing stops all SMS check-ins immediately but does not change your billing — your subscription and any add-on charges continue unchanged. To pause: go to Billing Settings and click "Pause" next to the recipient, or use the toggle in Recipient Settings. A paused recipient shows an amber "Check-ins paused" badge and is not greyed out. To resume, click "Resume" on the Billing page or toggle check-ins back on in Recipient Settings. If you want to stop billing for an additional recipient entirely, you would deactivate them — they will appear greyed out as "Inactive" and the add-on charge is removed.
