Privacy questions: hello@kinloop.co
This Notice of Privacy Practices supplements, and does not replace, Kinloop’s governing general Privacy Policy, which covers all personal and mobile information we handle: https://kinloop.co/privacy
Kinloop is a care coordination and medication adherence platform. We help families stay connected around daily health routines through SMS check-ins, caregiver dashboards, and alert notifications.
We take the privacy of everyone who interacts with our platform seriously — whether you are a caregiver managing an account, a care recipient receiving check-in messages, or an emergency contact receiving alerts.
Our responsibilities:
We collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the service and support care coordination. The specific information we collect depends on your role.
We share only the minimum information necessary for each function. For example, emergency contacts receive the care recipient’s first name and the nature of the alert, but do not have access to the caregiver dashboard, adherence history, medication details, or health conditions.
We work with a limited number of third-party vendors to deliver the service. These vendors process data on our behalf and are expected to protect it consistent with applicable law and our contractual requirements. They include:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertisers. Our vendors are permitted to use your data only as necessary to provide services to Kinloop.
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to:
Caregivers have the broadest access. Through the Kinloop dashboard, caregivers can view all check-in responses, medication adherence trends, weekly care summary reports, escalation and alert history, and account settings. Caregivers are responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide, including care recipient details and emergency contact information.
Care recipients interact with Kinloop primarily through SMS. They receive daily check-in messages and reply with YES, NO, or HELP. They do not have a login or dashboard account and do not see other users’ information.
Emergency contacts have the most limited visibility. They receive SMS alerts only when a care recipient replies HELP or an alert is triggered. They see only the care recipient’s first name and the nature of the alert. They do not have a Kinloop account, login, or dashboard, and do not have access to check-in history, medication details, adherence data, or care reports.
A family member or caregiver has listed you as someone to contact if their loved one needs help. When a care recipient replies HELP to a Kinloop check-in message, or when certain alert conditions are met, we send an SMS to notify you.
The caregiver who set up the account is responsible for providing your contact information and should have your permission to share your phone number with Kinloop for this purpose. Kinloop does not independently verify the relationship between caregivers and emergency contacts. If you believe you were added without your knowledge or consent, please contact us at hello@kinloop.co and we will remove your information.
Alert messages include the care recipient’s first name and a brief description of the situation (for example, that they asked for help or that a check-in was missed). They do not include medication names, health conditions, adherence history, or other detailed health information.
You may reply YES to acknowledge that you are aware of the alert and are checking on the care recipient. This records an acknowledgment — it does not resolve the alert, dispatch services, or take any other automated action.
You may reply STOP to stop receiving all SMS messages from Kinloop. This takes effect immediately.
We do not create an account for you. We do not use your phone number for marketing, promotions, or any purpose other than delivering care-related alerts as configured by the caregiver.
You may request a summary of the personal information we hold about you. Caregivers can view and export most of their data directly from the dashboard.
You may ask us to correct inaccurate information. Caregivers can update most account and recipient details directly in the app.
You may request that we delete your personal information. We will honor deletion requests to the extent we are able, consistent with our legal and operational obligations. Please note:
You may request a paper or electronic copy of this notice at any time by emailing hello@kinloop.co.
Please read this section carefully. Understanding these limits is important for the safety of your loved ones.
Kinloop Is Not an Emergency Service
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number) directly.
Message Delivery Cannot Be Guaranteed
The platform is designed to support family caregivers — not to replace direct care, professional medical oversight, or personal judgment. No automated system can substitute for direct observation, in-person check-ins, or professional medical care. Caregivers remain responsible for the wellbeing of their loved ones and should not rely solely on Kinloop for monitoring.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we apply reasonable and appropriate safeguards, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a breach involving your personal information, we will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.
Kinloop is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Care recipients are expected to be adults. If you believe a child’s information has been submitted to Kinloop, please contact us immediately at hello@kinloop.co and we will take steps to delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under state law. If you are a resident of a state with consumer privacy protections, you may request to know what personal information we have collected, request deletion, or request that we not sell your personal information (we do not sell personal information). You may exercise these rights without discrimination.
To exercise any state-specific rights, email hello@kinloop.co with the subject line "State Privacy Request" and include your state of residence. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
We may update this Notice of Privacy Practices from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our service, or applicable law.
We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this notice.
The most current version will always be available within the Kinloop app and on our website.
For material changes that affect how we use or share health-related information, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active account holders before the changes take effect.
